FOOD IS MEDICINE:
“eat food, not too much, mostly plants.” michael pollan
Principles of eating:
Eat the rainbow
75 percent veggies on the plate
eat the right beans, grains, nuts and seeds
go organic with your animal and poultry selections
treat sugar like a recreational drug
eat wild, fatty fish, shellfish routinely, 3 times week
cook at home, prep your veggies early in the day to snack on, take it to work
Breakfast
start the day green
As the day gets busy, we stop making good food choices. I suggest starting the day with a “green drink”, but try and keep the sugar low…even if it is honey. If you prefer, prep your veggies the night before, quickly saute in extra virgin olive oil and eat for breakfast. You start the day ahead of the game!!
Drink
hibiscus tea
With its large, ruby colored flowers that bloom in the morning and wilt by the afternoon, hibiscus can be a spectacular feature in any garden. In Asia, the hibiscus is held in high regard, and in the Victorian era, the flowers were often sent as gifts, highlighting the beauty of the recipient. Hibiscus tea has a delicate taste and unique healing properties and just might awaken peace and beauty in the drinker
